Kilmisters

Friday! Woo! Thank you, 21st century for a chance to have conf-calls w Skype/shared screens. Never really had a need for this, but now it, of course, helps a ton. Extremely productive 2hrs.

Lizzie, hoping your LR went well Smile Fake poop? Can I order that, please? If the range of remote is at least few hundred meters, I could send that thing to sales department every time their response to our detailed calculations is "Uhm, I don't know about your file, but I KNOW it's (insert false numeric statement here)''. As for secret, uhm, it's not like I went out and ran a marathon the next day… It's been one short, slow run only. 6 weeks is the ''benchmark'' return time, so not surprised it was was your friend was told, but it depends on a lot of things. At one point I was randomly googling the return to running timeline stuff and came across a discussion in which one girl was worrying about whether she'd be able to run her (first ever) marathon 2 months after childbirth. I was like, are you mental!? A marathon!? In 2 months!? That's a huge shock for body even w/o the childbirth part. She was a 1:40HM-er, so hardly a beginner that could fail to grasp how demanding a marathon is.

Sandy, the juggling is what makes me calm. This summer w all the new workplace pace/demands/stress and not being allowed to run till midJuly, it was awful. Not saying I had a serious depression, but it was not far from that. In the work-sports-family equation I can do w one being not ok, but not two. So, I knew from the very start that dropping work would just not be an option. Like, no way, even after miniK totally changing the ''family'' part of equation.. DH saw how this summer had been for me, so he understood me completely.

Have a great Friday, everyone Smile Almost weekend!

    Mighty Mouse

Thursday I put on layers, muffler, hat, gloves and went out the trail. Temp was about 40°. I was almost back to the car when I saw a pair of deer, one, a buck, watching me carefully. They were on the other side of a very tall chain link fence pretty far away. I had been watching for deer the whole trail 45 minute run. From now on I plan to stay in the park.
Today DC and I are off to classes. Yoga and Meditation and Teas. I carry my large bag with needed stuff in it, yoga mat in its own bag, folded soft cushion for my knees in yoga, water bottle, oh, and my class notes, etc. Maybe I should count that as cross training.
      Safe and happy runs, All!

16.1 COLD miles for me! Smile

I went for the 16 because I wanted an even number. And I felt awesome. GUYS, I wore capris (with calf sleeves - so pants basically), gloves, ear warmers and a JACKET. I thought I was going to be warm in the jacket so I left a short sleeve top in the garage just in case. NOPE..it was COOOLLLDDD. Probably about 35...that is PERFECT Lizzie temperature. PERFECT. That is probably why I had such a great run Smile Hamstring was cranky for a few of the miles..but not too bad. I was super slow to start and then picked it up around mile 9. Gradually got faster and was a little faster than MP by the end. I did not feel good when I got up but that cold air helped a ton!  Woohooo!! That will be my ONLY long run in between races.

Ruger was so tired after daycare yesterday! They had nothing but good things to say about him Smile I wanted to take him today..but I can't afford 3 days a week Sad Since we are going out of town tomorrow, we are going to board him for the night (just easier that way) and he will have daycare there, too!

Its FRIDAY!! WOOHOO!!! I don't plan on being very productive today. Smile

Docket – Mammel is very intimated by me. I think its because I kind of just say what I want to him and confront him when I know he is lying about something. So…he doesn’t mind my immature antics.

Sandy – Quick tip on Mindhunter..don’t watch it too close to bedtime. LOL. I was a little paranoid last night. Its about the FBI doing research on serial killers. Pretty interesting. I wonder if any of it is actually true. Did you actually go grocery shopping yesterday? I did..but I did it during lunchtime. Hardly anyone there then! WOOHOO I am sure you are loving WFH today! Is it snowing there?

Run2trail – I have been wondering where you are! Sweet of you to support your friend during her race – sorry she had to drop out Sad Nice trail runs lately! I didn’t realize your family was so close to you now. That bike race sounds fun!

Laura – You can get it at the dollar store!! It is GREAT!! I had some fake poop I would just randomly put in different areas of the office..but I left it out one night and I think janitorial got it! LOL.

Tessa – Interesting take on the out and backs..so true!! OOO please tell me you recipe for the seeds!! I have tried a few but they didn’t really turn out. This year I was just going to put salt on them and bake them. What do you usually do with them?! About the poop – I totally forgot about Ruger! I so need to bring this home and mess with him Smile NICE on the treadmill run! Glad you burned off some steam Smile

Run4cupakes – My SIL did the Atlantic City half and said the same – extremally flat. I wonder why they don’t do a full? Or maybe they do. Nice with the crosstraining!

Kilmisters – Wow, I wouldn’t even consider running a marathon 2 months after child birth haha. But that is interesting..because wouldn’t that mean you would be training while your 9 months pregnant? I would think that would be difficult! Maybe not. I don’t know obviously. I am going to see if I can find the link for the poop today! My co-worker bought it – I will ask him! Have a good Friday with mini-K!! Does DH get some time off for maternity?

Judy – Have fun today with the classes. And yes, carrying your large bag is cross-training Smile

Happy Friday everyone! OH..has anyone else been seeing Christmas lights?! I saw more than one house with them on this morning! I love Christmas time but that is a little early.

TGIF!!! Quick fly by---Work has been horrible busy and I put in an 11 hour day yesterday. Hoping I can get home at normal time today.  I'm rally hoping I don't have to work over the weekend bc I have so much Susan stuff to do.

3 miles yesterday. Core this morning. It was all I could handle

          Check y'all later!!

          Seloc

Diana - there is snow on the ground in Bemidji!  Flurries here - ground is too warm for it to stick.  Enjoy the lovely AZ weather!  Good to hear from you!

Elina - awwww, it makes me SOOOO happy to see you happy juggling it all!  SO mature to know what you need.  Totally get that re: you need at least two of the fav things in your life to keep going.  Pleased you have found your balance.  And that DH of yours sounds like a darn good one.

Lizzie - you need to run an even number??  Dork LOL    Then how can you end on .1??  Cuz I sure can't LOL High five on your killer run! Your posts always crack me up how giddy you are over the weather.  Bout time you got some Lizzie temps!  Awww, good boy, Ruger.  He probably needs a day of rest today anyway rather than back at day care.  Plus, like you said, he will get some extroverting in tomorrow hee hee.  I DID grocery shop yesterday!  Pretty proud of myself LOL  Now I do not have to go ANYwhere today.  Though I might hit up the liquor store later.  Doh.  Yep it's snowing.  Sideways even.  But it's more like snow globe snow and won't stick.  The ground is too warm.  It's also still above freezing, I believe, but will drop into the 20s tonight.  Sigh.  Christmas lights already?  Ummm no.

Sue - 11 hours at work??  Ugh!!  Hope you get out of there at a decent hour today!!

TRX/Bells class for me this morning.  Was a bit worried it would be tough since I haven't been in two weeks but it felt really good!  Since it's still supposed to be sorta nasty out in the morning, going to class again tomorrow instead of run.  Have two different running plans for Sun so should get in close to 11 super slow miles.  First 7 super early with regular Thurs RB, an hour or so break, then another 4ish with DC RB.  Otherwise I'll be hunkering down.  MN Vikings are in London so the game is on early on Sunday - I'll probably just catch the second half.  All my chores are done already, too, so I can totally chill.  Can you tell I'm excited for couch time?!  LOL  OH!  Since I canceled San Fran for next weekend, Delta was kind enough to allow me to apply that ticket to a new itinerary so I booked my trip to MX yesterday.  A group of friends are all turning 50 this fall and this is what they are doing.  They went to Costa Rica 10 years ago for 40 and I tagged along then, too.  It's over Christmas but I am HAPPILY going to be away in warm and sunny weather rather than deal with family drama.  Bis family is staying home this year and my other sister has become a bit of a disaster haha.  Guess I better get some work done.  Happy Friyay!!

            ginnyb

Our new director is a little strange.  She has been here about 2 years now.  She does not think the staff should be 'friends", this is the newest thing.  I have worked with a lot of these people for almost 30 years, how can we not be friends?  Not allowed to talk at the desk or visit anyone at a desk on our breaks, we can't read, now we can't talk...it is just adding to the stress.  Liz, can you imagine what would happen with fake poop here?  Granted we couldn't anyway since we work with the public, but we can't have any fun anymore.

Have not been running much, but have worked out.  Today was full body , so shaking all over by the time I was done.

Sorry, working so I better close for now.

                Just a quckie here.

Elina, glad you are able to do stuff at home with Mini-K, I think it is great.

                Judy, you see more wildlife!

Lizzie, you are certifiable, that is COLD!!!!  Glad Ruger like doggie daycare.  Where are you off to, I seem to have missed that.

Sue, 11 hours?  That is just too long.

Sandy, 11 miles, already?  Makes me tired just thinking about it...

Adulted this morning and spent my entire paycheck on bills.  Not too much fun.  Not looking forward to today.  The boss was out on the prowl yesterday and spent THREE HOURS at one clinic.  What in the world can they be up to for 3 hours.  And I think the focus will be on me.  I am already nervous for it.

Waves to all from yesterday and those to come today.  Any racers this weekend???

                Trails

Ginny I can't be friends with anyone I work with and some of these people would just go mental with the fake poop.  I think it's hilarious and most would too but there's always one who has a stick up her butt about things like that.  I might have to audit a person's department so that's the reason for the no friends.  It could make things awkward if I found they were committing fraud.

Elina both mine were over 8 lbs and required C-sections so even if I had been a runner there was no way I could have returned to running even after 6 weeks.  I was in the Army when I had DD so was in pretty good shape but at 8.1 lbs and me weighing 110 at my heaviest with her I was quite cumbersome.  DS was worse at 8.9 lbs.

Judy it was 37 here so I'd have been bundled up like an eskimo if I attempted to run.

                  Lizzie nice miles.

Sue it's been busy here too but since it's a tribal organization they really discourage long days.

I'm going to have to just wave and say hi to everyone.  Had a dr. apt this morning so got in late.

                  Half Crazy K 2.0

Lizzie, there is a full (and 5k, 10k and half) in AC in October. There is a half, 7k and 11k in spring. The fall race probably slightly more elevation changes as it goes from the boardwalk casinos to the Bayside casinos. The elevation change is probably only from ramps, unless it goes through the short tunnel.

                    Arimathea

                    Tessa

Ginny, in some cases it's not advisable to be friends with coworkers, as Diane pointed out, but in most cases I don't see a problem and in a library environment I would think it would be an advantage to be on good terms with them! You spend more time with your coworkers than anyone except maybe your spouse so how can you not get friendly? There is a difference between amicable and joined at the hip. The issue is if there is favoritism or unprofessional behavior as a result of getting too close and that can usually be avoided.

Elina, I do remember those lonely times with nobody but the baby around. I think keeping at work is good for some people. I can't see running a marathon two months after childbirth. Not only is your body still recovering and the joints tightening back up, chances are you are not getting much sleep and if you are breastfeeding then there is the issue of feeding baby before and after (and possibly during) the race as well as having to deal with the increased superstructure that comes with nursing. Women with older babies, certainly. Many a mom has nursed a baby at the start line, handed the little one off to the caregiver (other parent, grandparent, friend, whoever), run the race, and had the caregiver meet mom at the finish so she can nurse again immediately afterwards. Sometimes meet at an aid station during the race so baby can eat again!

Judy, glad the deer were on the other side of the fence.

Waving to everyone else. 2.7 this morning. 1 short loop, very glad I'd opted for that route since I came by my house and could run in to use the bathroom, then another loop in the opposite direction. Hoping for the gym today also.

                      Former Bad Ass

Afternoon!  I have Pilates and maybe weights.  We are having dinner with my dad and his GF tonight, yay.

Elina, working from home or remotely is, IMO, even more rewarding and effective.  Enjoy it!

                        Judy, enjoy the classes.

Lizzie, I would be sweating like pig with so much clothes for the 30s.

                        Susan, nice 3.

Sandy, nice job on the class!

Ginny, yeah, that wouldn't work in this office.  Some people have been here since 1985.,  We go to weddings, funerals, etc., and are like a big family, give or take two bitches.

Kat, you can do it!  You'll be fine!

Diane, good luck at the doctor!

                        HalfC, hiya!

                        Tessa, nice run!

Right after posting yesterday they called me back for the ultrasound, and then I completely forgot to come back here. The woman doing the ultrasound said she couldn't find anything swollen or lumpy or weird, and most likely the swelling had gone down on its own or my doctor "was probably feeling every little part of your anatomy because you're so thin." But I should hear back for sure within 24 hours, so probably this afternoon.

No running other than the 3 miles I got in at OTF this morning for me. Finally starting to feel tapery, and it is hard. My group is running 12 and 14 miles tomorrow so I plan to start with them, cut it short and then hang out and run with the later group going 4 miles. Hope to keep my total under 10, but it's going to be so cold I don't want to be waiting around too long between the 5:40 start group and the 7 am start group. That's right, I said "so cold." We may see upper 30s, at the most it will be 40-42 for the entire run. What? Since I'm going to be running slow and stopping for awhile in the middle, I'll probably wear some layers and have extra stuff in the car. Right now I only have one person for the 7 am group, but I convinced a couple of my neighbors to come out plus may get one of the people from the store to come early and run with us. Next week the half group drops down to 6 (tapering for their race the following weekend), so the later group will have more people.

Weekend should be fun, group run in the morning, then the murder mystery party Saturday night. I tried on my flapper dress (after a couple neighbors said they'd been abstaining from wine all week to be able to fit into theirs) and it's cute. Hopefully I won't flash anyone as it's rather loose in the chest area. No plan Sunday other than a short easy run and a running club get together that I plan on just showing up to pick up my hoodie that I ordered and head back home. Because I'm sure by Sunday afternoon I'll be ready for some me time.

Damaris, I forgot to respond to your comment the other day about my hellish speedwork (which I actually cut short, should have been 3x1200 and 3x800, I only did two 800s). You may not see that one, but you are probably going to see the slightly over tempo/slightly under tempo one I did the week before, especially if we do spend some time focusing on shorter races/speed next year. That was one of the hardest I've done, but was also kinda fun. In a sick, twisted way a lot of people wouldn't understand, but you will.

                          Diana, good to see you!

Laura, for some reason I thought you were a lot younger than me than 4 months. 50 is awesome by the way. Sign up for all the races - for whatever reason, the 40s are often the most competitive age groups, but the 50s slow considerably. Even qualifying times get easier - Boston is 4 hours, and the NYCM qualifier times jump way up too - from a 1:42 half to a 1:49, and a 3:38 to a 3:51 full.

Elina, sounds like you are settling into a way of life that's working well for you and mini-HulK. That's awesome.

                          Judy, enjoy the classes today.

Liz, nice long run, girl. And isn't it cute to see Ruger so tuckered out after daycare? You just know he had fun. He'll probably just sleep all day today anyway after two days of it. If I still worked in an office, I'd have to have the remote-controlled poop.

Susan, hope you get out of work no problem and have time for you this weekend!

Sandy, snow??? Well, I guess if we can see a temperature that starts with a 3 down here, you can see snow up there. Easy miles tomorrow if you're running 11, mmmkay? And score on the Christmas trip to Mexico!

Ginny, that seems really weird that you're not supposed to be friends. I guess I can see discouraging LOTS of socialization, but um, people work better together if they're friends.

Kathryn, good luck meeting the boss today. Hope it's uneventful.

6 miles for me this morning, nice temp for running, about 47 degrees.  Started sprinkling right as I got back home so good timing

Work was pretty anti climactic yesterday, everybody was just quiet and the supervisor kept her door closed most of the day.  I guess she did tell the social worker she couldn't talk about the issue since there is an investigation going on.  We'll see...

Elina - hope your work from home day was good!

                            Judy - stay warm!

Lizzie - AWESOME 16!  Okay I will look for the fake poop at the dollar store.  You crack me up about the weather, I hate weather colder than mid 40's LOL!  Of course, I prefer cold to heat for running.

Sue - hope today isn't as busy as yesterday!

Sandy - NO NO NO SNOW!!    We're supposed to see some within the next few days    Your trip sounds fabulous!  We just booked a vacay to Florida in February, we are taking all the kids so I hope I don't need a straight jacket afterward lol.  Actually, it should be fun, I will need some beach time come February.

Ginny - nice workout!  That is stupid about not being friends....have her call me and I'll let her know what it's like when co workers are enemies lol.  Sounds like you should plant some fake poop!!!

Kat - ugh, I am not wanting to adult today.  Have to do some financial aid stuff for the kids this weekend and I do not want to.  Hope the boss visit goes okay!

                            Hi Kupcakes!!

I dont know when HCBF will be home. Probably late. I am starting to get used to him not being around so its not really bothering me anymore. I will make my cheeseburger with or without him hahahah. Smile

Sandy – I don’t count the .1 silly! Hahah Smile I have been hearing about the mid-west snow on the weather channel! It looks pretty Smile WOOHOO for your grocery shopping being done. What kind of liquor are you getting!? Haha. I am being nosey. 11 miles already Sunday? Get it girl!!! Smile  Weren’t you just giving me crap for having 10 on the schedule?! LOL. Kidding Wink I defiantly wasn’t ready to do 10. So, when it starts to snow do you go on the treadmill or do you have something for your shoes? Like the trax? WOOHOO for MX!! That is going to be fun!! Much better than family drama.. Wink I am jealous! Is it for a week?? I always say that I would go on vacation over Christmas or Thanksgiving..but I probably wouldn’t. Those are my favorite times of year! We have family drama too (mostly politics related) but I still love it!

Susan – Oh man, I hope you get out at a decent time today.

Ginny – The staff shouldn’t be friends? I would think you would want the opposite. You can’t read?! Are you serious? That is strange! And dumb. You had a good workout today! Hang in there!

Kathryn – We are just doing a day trip to HCBF’s sisters house. She is about 2 hours away. We are going to come back but it won’t be until late. We would feel bad if we had him in his crate all day.  I spend most of my paycheck on bills as well..SUCKS. Good luck today. Try and hide!!!

Diane – There is always someone that has to ruin the fake poop fun. How was the doc apt? Did you mention your back?!

Tessa – Very true about co-workers. I have am one of two women in our office..and the other has become a really close friend of mine! That sounds like a lot of work while nursing! I had a bathroom issue on my run this morning, too! Hahaha..I went to the woods.

Docket – Have fun at dinner tonight! I agree on the office friendships! I did sweat a bunch but my butt was so cold it was numb until about 9am Wink

Karen – That is great news about the ultrasound. REALLY great news! What a perfect time to taper – when its cold out in TX! UGH. I would be frustrated haha.
