Notes

The Ron Hill Mile (110 Days) + 5 miles.

I would call this run a Double Tempo Run. I ran strong with Franc who was adding distance back & forth aiming to do his 8 miler today. I also felt good and motivated wearing my new pair of Saucony Triumph. After a 100 Ron Hill Runs I have started running again. It is a great feeling! Saucony is a great shoe, however, today I noticed that, although it does not cause me pain on the toe joint, puts pressure on the right foot bunion as it did 7 yrs ago when I was training in Saucony Triumph for the BM. I find this difficult to understand, why Saucony ltd do not produce the same shoe in D width!!!!??? It is the perfect shoe for me otherwise. So, I may have to stretch the forefoot of the shoe a bit to accommodate the bunion. Now the vivid memory of the 2010 Boston Marathon return, when I cut a hole in my almost hardly warn trainers to run the distance. It is the rubbing on the bunion, following treatment by the Podiatrist, that grazed the skin/bone and caused a severe infection and hospitalization on 2010 April's Fool Day for two days and just exactly 2 weeks prior to the Marathon. But I did the distance proudly despite all warnings from Orthopedics in Scotland. Memories of this nature never fade away!!!!!!!!!!! They stay with us and make us stronger -:)

Anyhow, to get back to the present, today I had an amazing run and thanks to Frankie who also ran with me and alongside me like the old good days. But the good days are still here in a different but very special way.

I know tomorrow I will have stiff quads as I incorporated hills in the unplanned double Tempo. So, for me it was 1st mile easy / Warm Up, 2nd & 3rd Tempo at 85% effort, 4th mile medium pace, and 5th & 6th mile went crazy tempo as Franc said that at some point nearing the end of the run I picked up pace and seemed to have been running faster than 7 min mile. Smiling on the inside and happy lady!
