At last I managed to put a run today after a long rollercoaster of lack of sleep/extensive work commitments and busy life. To srart with, I had the steep long hills on the way there (4.6 mile) and strong very strong winds on the way back. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL BUT TOUGH RUN! I put a lot of effort in this run. . . I gave it ALL. My first mile was slow (10 min) but thereafter I worked hard up hills ... hard and strong always bearing in mind that as Frankie said this morning ... "remember your second half must be faster than your first half Eleni as per Coach Orders!" So, as I was doing the hills I was thinking ... Oh my God how on earth can I make it faster on the second half? Actually to make sure I did exactly half of distance I returned at half way point the same way instead of carrying on as I had planned. Thinking that I would have also some down hill work to do and feeling lucky and hopeful. But to my surprise I found out that I had the horrendous winds to fight against. But I did it almost cutting through the wind I managed to gain overall two clear minutes faster speed on the way back. So, on the way there it took me 40 min and way back 38 exactly. I LOVED IT. I need to note that for most of the way up but also at other times I suffered today from a stitch on the left lower side and also had wind coming up. It was the fact that I run as soon as I had a nice smoothie mixture of fruit and yogurt and honey. I need to allow at least one hour before I have anything to eat at all apart from water. I had not had a stitch in years ...it was really painful for approx. 10 min and worried me but then went away. Still lessons to learn. Great run alltogether.
