Notes

A run on the Trail. This is my favourite Trail. It brought back memories when 3 yrs ago won the race for my division at approx. 8:10 min pace then. It is a steep trail with beautiful scenery when the weather is not as it was today. I run with Franc. I had to stop and walk for approx. 3/4 mile in total as the path was laid with gravel stones and it was risky for the foot that had the fracture.

Overall I am delighted with the results although I did feel out of condition a bit in terms of cardio and struggled on the steeper parts of the course. But it feels great been up there. I have the desire to race this course again and get my trophy back when the time comes. Maybe in 2013 I will be able to defend my title, who knows? I was running like a mountain goat then ........someone had said. I take pride in trail runs. It is something about them that element of agility and flying down the way almost with wings on the legs, hardly touching the ground and with the confidence of balance that nothing will go wrong. The exhilaration down the hill especially on narrow paths whereas no-one can overtake you unless you let them to. The trail gives me a buzz of taking risks and flying. I need to lose a lot of weight to master this again. One cannot carry any weight but only muscle on the steep parts of Mabie Forest paths.

Franc ran well. He kept running up and coming back for me so he must have added an extra mile to his run. It is great that his PF did not bother him due to uneven grounds. This is good news. My foot managed well too. No problems at the point of fracture but only the uneven ground slightly affected the CS but nothing serious. Calves felt a bit out of shape on the steep parts. I have lost my daily stretching nowadays due to neck and back issues. It is the first time in 12 yrs that I have missed my morning Tai Chi Stretching / Yoga for just about 3 weeks. My neck still holds and I cannot do any body stretching as it affects the neck. The good thing is that it does not bother me while running.

So, All in all as they say today's run was a success despite the misty, wet Scottish weather. I now feel so relaxed. It is all good especially as I do not have to work today. Easter Holiday but back to 'run of the mill' tomorrow.
