Notes

This was an adventurous run and am lucky to be alive. Struck by electric fence today up on the Scottish hills. I should have known better I guess but this was not expected.

I was aiming for a very easy 5 miler (my baseline) as my quad and IT band have been hurting me slightly lately and they have caused me some numbness on the right leg. So, I went for an easy 5 to test the grounds. Running on a very busy road was not that pleasant and so I decided to take a short cut up on the hills. I kept running up and felt free with all amazing views down below. I was so excited especially when I could see the deer ahead running away from me as fast as he could. I found myself climbing up the steep hill in a comfortable fashion but with some discomfort on the right upper quad and hip. So, I had to stop at some point due to soft grounds and make sure I would not cause any injury due to uneven soft ground surface. At that point I could view breath taking views and could see ahead that the sky was getting pretty dark with rain threatening. I knew exactly where I was heading through the woods as my sense of navigation is pretty good on Scottish land and I had a good view so I could recognise the landscape. It was pretty windy up there but beautiful and would not change for any road. I was heading towards Jimmy direction (my 4 legged friend) through the fields. So, at some point I had to find a way to exit the fields and tried to jump over the electric fence. This is usually possible avoiding the electric cable but on this occasion I was struck by the main thicker and other cable and thrown for sec backwards and, I think, lost conscience for certain sec along with balance. I took an electric shock. This has happened before but in less intensity. I got a huge fright as I was on my own and Franc would have no idea where I was. He could have not guessed in a million years as it was a spontaneous decision to take this route. I was fine and had to retreat and walk along the field up and until I navigated myself via the stables out and away from the fields. I found myself exactly on the road up on the steep hill where I had guessed I would be and from there I made my way home for another 3 miles in heavy rain but so happy to be safe and able to run.. My hip and quad was hurting on the hill but arriving home it was a relief.

What an adventurous run this was. One to remember.
