The last mile of this run felt like the last one of the Marathon. This was a difficult run. I started feeling good and light and relatively o.k with legs. But I was depleted at approximately 4th point mile. Having lost 10 lb in weight in the course of the last 3 weeks and not having had much food this morning I hit the wall in a distance of 6 miles. I felt exactly as I did a year ago when the same happened at 17th mile point. I felt weak, started feeling sick, dehydrated and lost all energy and power to finish. It crossed my mind a million of times to stop and walk home but as I was running down hill I let my body drift along having those thougths and words of the Coach saying "one needs to learn to run depleted ... good practice for the Marathon". It is amazing how body reacts with no fuel. It will let you down no matter the will. If it wasn't for a mile to go I would have given up and stop walking back. It was more lack of food than water. Put the two together it makes perfect sense. Now once again I know how tough it is to ignore energy levels. I shall never again have a run without having some form of breakfast before. In actual fact I had no proper dinner last night but snacks too. As for my right leg, it coped o.k but still holds on to it, niggling me with nipping sensations. I did not enjoy the two last miles of this run. Now I am due to replenish energy and recover. My first toast and butter and apricot jam with a cup of Lady Grey in three weeks. I deserve it today. Now that I am increasing the distance again I need to return to my normal food routine but sensibly. I would still say what a difference it does make running light!!!!!!!!!!! I need to go back to "ELENITSA" girl who used to run light on the hot sands of Stoupa.
