Notes

I run most of this run with Colleague and fellow runner Alasdair. It was a good run but a strange one in terms of planning. This was meant to be a Club Night Handicap unofficial race. This it was what it had been emailed to me. So, we set off early after Office work to meet and have warm up run prior to the speedy workout. Alasdair was looking forward for me to show him the new path / loop prior to the workout. We both run well although we did had to adjust to a mutual warm up pace / speed which meant too fast for me as he is possibly one of the fastest if not the fastest runner in the Club. So, I was doing low 9's just about. But I was feeling good and comfortable in it. So, we did a good 4.5 miles and had to stop for about 5 min all-together now and then so for me to explain what exactly the loop was for the course. Then we could not see any club runners coming to the usual spot to meet and made our way again towards the meeting point (the Club) when we met a group of fast male runners leading the start of the warm up. What had happened the lead person on charge for the handicap had gone ill and as he was not there runners had formed different groups to do a 7 or 5 speedy miles. It was then that I had to break away and Alasdair joined the fast front group and disappeared in the dark. By that time I had done approximately 6 miles and decided to call it a day and return back to the car as I was cooling down pretty fast...too fast.

So, the rest is history. Although I had a brilliant run in terms of distance and good pace too I had to suffer the chill in my tummy as I usually do when stopping and starting or even altering speed. The pains lasted for most of the evening. My tummy tends to be very sensitive winter time with cold weather. Unless I keep going at all times then I find myself in trouble. Also last night I realised that although I am very strong I now need to go back to speed and get faster. The Thursday Club Sessions / runs will do help me to do that along with some consistent interval training.
