adidas Response Trail 15 (retired)

Equipment Info
Activity: Run
Shoe size: 11.50 (US/Canada)
Total distance: 8.5 mi
Purchase date: 9/12/2009
Price: $90.00
Notes: Bought at the end of August online in size 11.5 since I couldn't find a 11 2E. Broke them in for a few hours with walking. First run was on 9/12/2009. This is the review I gave it: I give this 2 out of 5 stars because I think they're okay, but not preferable. I really like how they were designed for trails-- good tread and a very unique heel design. There is no doubt they have plenty of cushion. I'd almost say there is too much cushion, though, as you're essentially running with blocks on your feet. It's not even that they are too heavy; there is just a whole lot of padding between your foot and the trail, plus the bottom of the shoe is awfully flat despite the great tread. This results in a very unresponsive (pun) feel for me when I run in the shoe, as the muscle in my feet is doing very little of anything and that's a bit weird for me on uneven terrain. Some people may find that preferable, but I do not. It's especially bad when you hit a flat stretch of trail, because all that flat padding underfoot really changes your gait. Also, I wish adidas would more widely market shoes with wide width, but that's more a comment on the company than the shoe.
