Random Route

Notes

I ran from home towards St. Inigoes. I turned around just before the St. Inigoes valley that leads to Villa RD (and Orchard Way). Willows RD was mostly covered in packed snow. The first and last two miles of the run were therefore hilly and snowy. Otherwise, route 5 was clear. It turned out to be a pretty enjoyable run in the cold, though there was a fair amount of sun. I was quite surprised when I turned around in St. Inigoes. I suddenly had the wind in my face (not even 10 mph) and the trees caused shade on this new side of the road, so it was an instant drop of what felt like 10+ degrees.

I focused a lot on trying to keep my legs limber and altering my stride to keep nimble from time to time. My Achilles tweaked a little a couple of times and I monitored it closely. I stopped to stretch my Achilles for about 5 seconds twice during the run. I don't like stopping on long runs for fear of my heart rate returning to normal, so 5 seconds seemed appropriate.
