BCS Marathon

Notes

Weather was perfect, 36 at start, >50 at goal, sunny with no wind. First half in 1:48:38, second half in 1:54:29 (5 min 51 sec positive split). Overall position was 86 at half, 64 at the end. Right calf started to cramp at ~22-23 miles.

1) Ate too much breakfast. While picking up food on plate, they asked for breakfast ticket, and ended up paying $9, which made me eat a lot. Probably not a good idea to overeat on the morning of race day.

2) Need to reconsider Skechers GoRun 4. Sole cushion may not be enough. BCS marathon course tend to have hard road surface. Left sole started to hurt during the race. Might switch to Gorun ride 6.

3) Cramp in right calf might be related to incomplete rest of legs during the week up to the race.

4) Most likely, this is what I have now. May try to increase the intensity of training as it used to be. Of course there should be some sort of balance to avoid injury...

Changed from short sleeve shirt to tank top Kai had at mile 20.

No results yet and ran watch-less so don't know what pace I was running. I passed a lot of runners during the latter half even if I was slowing down. Only one female runner passed me looking very strong. It could be the same runner that passed me a year ago. And probably it was now that I know the result.
