Beat my previous 10K PR (same race last year) by 1:57 but slower than the time I was shooting for (41:30). The weather was perfect but I just couldn't gut it out. A slight GI tract issue this morning might have slowed me down a bit.
It's been a while (probably ~1 year) since I did something that qualifies as speed work for training. I need to start doing that regularly, like once a week, so that I get used to how it feels to gut it out for shorter distances (5-10K). Will shoot for sub 41 10K this fall.
My kids helped out at a water station so that was great. My daughter's pic got on the Cap 10K website.
