BCS Marathon

Notes

Marathon in warm and humid condition. 70F at the start, 75F at the finish. Kept pouring water on head/face at every aid station. In the end, shoes got wet and ended up with a little bit of blisters on both feet.

First half 1:41:56 (7:47 pace), second half 1:47:02 (8:10 pace). Legs started to whine at mile 20 and got sold out at mile 25. Mile 25 to 26 took 9:39. Typical. I need to learn how to gauge my effort during the first half. I want to do big time negative split like I did in Austin in Feb.

4th out of 38 in age group, 32nd out of 352 men, 41st out of 613 overall. I guess it was pretty average performance.

Post race food was amazing (taco, BBQ sandwich, sausage rap, etc.). Probably the best out of ~10 marathons I have run so far, or close to the Grandma's Marathon. Overall a very well organized race. The course was a little confusing while running through the A&M campus.

It was great to run through the A&M campus. Went to a convenience store on campus and bought a whole buch of stuff to use up >$500 left in Kai's meal card. Managed to use $150 so he still has >$350 left... Hopefully Kai will run half marathon next year.
