Notes

Boston 2011 didn't go so well. I always said that I'd go back and do it right. It was such a huge goal in my running when I started this journey. Sarah also had never run Boston so this was the year for it.

We flew out and back. The travel was good. Shane and Brandy reside (for the time being) in Natick. They picked us up from the airport, showed us around town, took us to pick up packets, dropped us off in Hopkinton and picked us up downtown after the race. We are very thankful to have such cool, accommodating friends.

The race went pretty well. That said, the peg leg - tin man made another appearance. I was cramping by 20, had significant cramping the last 3 or so miles. I thought I was in shape to run my second fastest marathon ever, missed by about 80 seconds. It was a very good day. I ran 20+ with Sarah on her bum ankle, she left me sometime in the last few miles and beat me by about 30 seconds.

One of the Boston goals for runners is to finish ahead of your bib number (which are seeded by time). My bib was 6515, I finished 6139. I'm happy about all of this, although growing weary of racing road marathons. Next up, a couple of western states qualifiers this fall and next spring, and then ONE more marathon PR attempt in Indy 2024.

Solid day, great job. I’m looking forward to hearing more as well as Sarah’s results.
