Whew, tough but great race. I wasn't quite in marathon shape since my training for the last 6 weeks has been shoddy, but I performed mostly very well. I definitely had some dark moments from mile 18 through the end, but I had a guy on my ass the whole time so I didn't have a choice but to keep pushing on. The biggest thing I noticed was simply loosing my climbing legs on the second loop. I could still run the flats pretty quick, but I had to walk most of the steeper hills. The pavement also started to really take a toll in the last half. I had a pretty bad positive split, but I think that was mostly from not being in peak shape. I also still under-ate and felt pretty dizzy in the last couple miles. I felt like I was eating a decent amount but it still wasn't quite enough. It was mostly just irregular timing which could have put my body into a irreversible deficit. I was very proud of how I kept kicking instead of giving up, even when it got really tough. After finishing I wasn't quite sure how I ran almost twice as far on a much harder course 6 weeks ago.
