Notes

Today was awesome. Decided to double the length of my previous longest ride and ride down to Cincinnati on the Little Miami Scenic Trail.

The day started off great, and I was having a blast cruising along the trail. It was great to see so many people out jogging and biking! For once I didnt startle everyone I passed (like on the Cardinal Greenway...) because having a biker ride past you wasn't "weird" here....

Things got a little interesting when 5 miles out from my first stop in Cinci for lunch, my chain snapped. I was prepared for a flat, but had absolutely no idea what I was going to do, already 50+ miles away from home...

luckily I was off the trail, and a guy drove past in minutes and graciously took me to a nearby REI to get it fixed.

I was also taken off guard by the incredible steep hills once I got into the city. Tough after being on my bike for so long already! Kinda like doing tons of squats after 55 miles of biking....with 65+ left...

Stopped for lunch at the Moerlein Lager House and was lucky that Christina Steiner was willing to meet me for lunch! She even put up with me being 30 minutes late because of my bike problems. Thanks!

After getting sufficiently lost in the city, I finally found the art museum, but took a shortcut with 150+ stairs that I wasn't expecting. They just never ended! The museum was a great time to let the food settle and take a break from the riding.

On the way back, with 50 miles to go, I decided to stop at Fifty West Brewery in East Cinci. Probably the best coffee stout I've had in my life....but maybe it just tasted so good 72 miles into my ride!

20 minutes down the trail the beer hit me, and I was pretty uncomfortable for the next few miles! worth it though

I had many low patches in the last 50, but generally maintained a strong pace. I got pretty light headed several time though and almost passed out by the time I got home.

All in all, I couldn't have had a more awesome day, and I'm SO glad I decided to give it a shot!
