Notes
This race ended up going much better than expected today. Got out fast for me but position was terrible due to the number of noobs who don't know how to race right in front of me bunching shit up the first 1k while they ran into people's back. I eventually cut wide on the outside and passed a bunch of them because it was pissing me off too much. Slowly worked my way up. Came through the mile in 5:03, probably in like 60th place or something worse but not terribly far behind the lead pack. Tried to stay steady while I was passing people left and right the next 2 miles. Split 5:00 then 5:04 and came through 5k in 15:40. Not too long after this I had passed Crain, then he rolled up on my shoulder and started to pick it up. I tried to man up and go with him since there was a big pack around us including Loyola guys, UIC guys, some BU guy, and a few guys from Augie. Goal of the day being to not lose to anyone from Augie, I tried to keep my part 3 as strong as possible because that would really piss me off. Finally got passed for the first time by a few guys I had just passed before 4 miles and tried to keep them close. 4th mile was another 5:04. During the last mile we were still gaining on people falling off from up front but the group was just getting larger I was surrounded by. Finally the last 800 I start to find another gear and start digging with some of the other NCC boys. I almost catch the Loyola guy but just didn't have enough legs to get him at the end. Last mile in 4:47 was a good closer for me. Good race experience outside of my foot just killing me by the end.
