Notes

Was a bit lazy today and put off the long run until after noon because when I woke up this morning the windchill was -10 and I wanted to be able to keep a decent clip without my hands hurting today. Finally ended up rolling out, heading downtown Rock Island, over the Arsenal Bridge, and down the bike path to Credit Island. Took 2 1/4 road loops of the island before turning back and heading towards home. Made it out there in 37:30ish and then left the island at 1:16:30 ish. Therefore, my return route home was 34:34. Was a bit overdressed but legs actually felt pretty good. Only hit a couple long chunks of ice where I really had to slow down but otherwise felt fairly smooth. Had no idea on pace because I purposely have no markers on long run courses. Made a definitive change of pace once I got to 1:35:00 about 3/4 of the way over the Arsenal Bridge. From what I mapped I hit 15 miles for the first 1:35 (6:20 pace - didn't feel that fast - sorry Julius), then ended up making 2.9 miles in the last 16:04 to get back to the house including a good 500 or 600 meter hill with about a mile and a half to go where I definitely wanted to die or at least puke. That averaged out to 5:31 pace for that last chunk which was at least right on where we wanted. Right hamstring was a bit awkward during the last mile so pushed but didn't get ridiculous. Very tough long run but glad I got it in today.
