Abandoned workout:
I could tell my energy was low at the beginning, but sometimes the warm ups feel bad and then the actual workout is fine. That was not the case today. I did a 30 min warmup with 4 100m strides, I hit the strides in 21, 20, 21, 21 but even those felt like I was having to push a little.
I finished the first 2000, the splits were: 87, 85, 86, 86, 82. My ending heart rate was 174 which isn't really high but my legs were dead. The fact I started slow was a bad sign, then I really never got up to pace.
The 400 recovery was a little fast in 2:11, my heart rate got down to 151 at the end of that.
I started the 1000 but quit after 600. I ran 79 for the first 400 and 41 for the next 200. My heart rate when I stopped was 173.
I could have finished the 1000 and probably the full first set but I was already off pace and I was going to have to dig deep for the finish. The second set I don't know what would have happened.
In any case my legs were dead. I think Saturday must have taken more out of me than I thought, and then Monday and Tuesday it was really hot when I ran - that may have taken some out of me. I got up at 5 this morning to avoid the heat, so heat today was not an issue.
It really isn't like me to not finish a workout, so I feel pretty confident it was the right thing to do this time.
In other news, I did the hull sprints yesterday and my hamstring seems fine.
