Notes

For my afternoon run today I did a loop I've never done before, going up Hardscrabble (via Valley Ln) to Rt 133 and going all the way up to Old Roaring Brook Rd, which I took to Lawrence Farms Crossway and then Kerry Ln to Roaring Brook Rd to Cross Ridge/Chap Mtn and back home. The loop itself was about 8.75 mi so I added a bit when I got back. This was the first time in a while that I've measured a run online before going out to do it, and I was surprised to find that I was going considerably faster than I had thought. I've been assuming recently that I've been doing about 6:50 pace for my runs, but today's average effort was apparently about 6:44 and I was feeling good. And I noticed that the first mile was a bit slower (about 7:05) so the rest of the run actually averaged somewhere around 6:40. The humidity made things a bit tougher but I feel pretty good even on this hilly route- probably in large part from being somewhat fresh after yesterday's day off my feet.
