Notes

Was supposed to do a workout today, but the wind this morning made me opt to switch in a circuit and do the workout on Satursay. So, this was a short run before coming back home to do the circuit. After feeling fairly good in the first minutes, I decided to take a shot at the Strava segment record that runs on Hardscrabble from Valley View down to Douglas. I cruised down the Hardscrabble hill, was feeling pretty strong, and then pressed slightly while staying smooth all the way to Douglas (and then just past, to hit the 1.5 mile marker and get a clean 800m split). I easily got the segment record, but even more, was pleasantly surprised to see that the last 800m was 5:08 pace, without having pushed super hard. The HR was up for sure, but it was controlled and quasi-sustainable. So that was pretty exciting. Then since I was in the swing of it, I recovered for two minutes and then did one more fast segment on Kipp and 120 to the traffic light. Felt really strong again there, though the pace was slightly more normal. All in all an exciting day to do the first fast running in a few weeks. Some of the portions were downhill for sure, but even the flat pieces showed consistently quick paces. Cool stuff.
