Notes

Did a tough run today, which went fairly well. During the first three warm-up miles I was pleased that the hills seemed a bit easier than the last few days, and that I was feeling a little fresher and smoother as I warmed up. Then I jumped into a 5k tempo, and that started to fade.. The first mile was sharply downhill (finishing Hardscrabble and then heading into Pville) which I split super fast, but then the next mile had a good climb on Wash Ave. I really started to feel the workout there, and in the end maintained something rather more than a tempo effort.. The last mile had a bit of downhill and then the long (slightly rolling) flat into Chap, for which I worked harder than I prob should have but held a solid 5:25. Overall this is still showing that i) I'm not used to these hills yet, ii) I need to make sure I'm getting enough rest as I jump into all these hills, and iii) esp here and at this point in training, I need to make sure I'm not too attached to split numbers and focus more on effort. Anyways, a solid workout, and looking forward to a lighter day tomorrow.
