I ran a solid workout this afternoon of 3-4-5-6-5-4-3 min at "cruising" (listed in the summer training packet as 5K+16 sec per mile), with a little over two miles warm up and about the same for cool down. I did a fairly flat loop from Koerner Hill, with only one notable hill which came (obviously, looking at the distances and paces for each piece) during the second 5 min piece. I felt actually very good for this workout, generally maintaining a very solid pace for each piece. The first half (through the 6 min piece) was largely in the 5:20s, and the 6 min piece itself was actually about 5:19 average which I was really pleased with. But following the fast piece and heading up a hill I died a bit on the second 5 min piece and fell to about 6:01 pace. Fortunately I recovered well after that and picked the pace back up for the second 4 min piece, and then the last 3 min piece was actually about 5:06 pace (first minute downhill, remaining two minutes flat) which I was very happy with.
