Notes

Garmin acted up, as indicated by the splits. Per Alicia, who also has a 220, I need to do a reset. She and I were assigned to pace Audrey Cote, who crushed the competition. She finished 21:56, making two of the four goals I set for her. She might have made the other two if my Garmin had been working properly and if the three of us had done some pre-race planning. I figured we wanted to go out at 7:05 for the first mile, then sub-7 for the second, and sub-6:50 for the final, finishing sub 21:30, or sub-6:55 pace. Unfortunately, my Garmin and Alicia's were not reading our pace accurately, so it was guesswork. Meanwhile, during the first mile, I could see that Rob was leading the pack. Alicia and Audrey were hanging back somewhat, so I decided to see if I could join Rob at the front during the second mile. I got to within 50-100 feet of him at one point, but he picked up the pace during the third mile, and I did not have enough speed to catch him. Still, I'm happy with this, as it confirms I can still go sub-20. I suspect that Rob and I would have both been noticeably faster if I had started with him. I think he's faster at the 5k distance, but we're close enough to make for an interesting race.
