Notes

I am happy with this race for a number of reasons. 1) I am just finishing up a head cold I've had most of the week. 2) My legs didn't feel as recovered from Tuesday lift and Wednesday workout as I would have liked. I noticed this mostly in the last 400m when my quads felt tired (which is not something I've felt to that extent before). 3) It was only a couple seconds off my PR. and 4) My legs don't feel sore at all today! It is a miracle!

I ran much smarter than at alumni and so I didn't feel quite as sick as I did after this race. The other guys from Movin shoes wanted to cool down on the indoor turf but thankfully I convinced them we had had enough of the dry air and so we went outside. We also got to wear our new jerseys from New Balance. They are Blue (not Luther blue) but still better than orange!

Other good news about this race: three of us were racing off for two spots to run on the A team at Shamrock Chicago in March. I beat one of the guys, so I think I've pretty much secured that spot. Unless... Reed Connor (super stud) doesn't sign a professional contract with someone this spring. Then there's a chance he will race with us in Chicago, which would put me on the B team. Since Shamrock Chicago team scores are based on cumulative time for 4 runners, and since he'd probably run faster than 23 minutes, he'd help A LOT!

Anyway, I'm happy with this race. Bummed I could scratch out a PR, but I'm happy to know that I'm in better shape than 8:46 at alumni!

Congrats, Cholo! Here's hoping for that spot on the A team for Chicago, you have my vote! (and yay for no more orange jerseys :)
