According to Running Ahead this course for the 5k at Veterans Memorial Park was exactly 3.1 but my feeling is that the actual course was a little short though I'm not sure how. The winning prize was a round trip ticket to anywhere in the U.S. Canada, Mexico or Caribbean. I ran 14:29 for a road 5k and won't it be fate that someone stupid fast shows up to steal the prize! He was at least 20 seconds in front of me. Its too bad, he seemed like kind of a jerk when I talked to him after the race. All he wanted to do was complain about the route and having to lap walkers. What a jerk! Its a bummer I don't get the plane ticket, but at least I got the opportunity to race fast before Garrry Bjorklund in 2 weeks. There was one other guy that was in front of me most of the race, but I blew by him with about a half mile to go and beat him by a good margin. Then I think they screwed up the results because at the awards ceremony after they announced the overall winner correctly, but then they announced Ben Sathre as second, the guy I beat as 3rd and me as 4th. I didn't argue because only 1st place got any sort of prize, but I was actually seccond and Ben Sathre was 4th. Ben sort of gave up after about a mile. I passed him about a mile into the race and then a half mile later I glanced over my shoulder to see where he was and he was no where to be seen so I'm not sure what happened.
