Cholo, I'm going to give you some advice, take it or leave it. Look at your weeks building up to and after your 8k. All of your best performances were burned in training runs (trust me, I've been there). The couple weeks leading up to this 5k are aimless. Why should it have been fast? I bet you could bury the shit out of a 10 miler or half right now, but you're not going to run a fast 5k if you only split 4:30 in a 1600. It's there, you just need to turn that fitness into speed bro! -Reb

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Rebel. I probably over reacted to the outcome of that 5k... I had bronchitis at the beginning of March which has made my training super choppy. My plan coming back from bronchitis was to build mileage and race (which now looking back was TOTALLY unrealistic). Now I'm just trying to work towards the Dam to Dam half marathon in early June. I hope you're doing well.

I figured I didn't have the whole picture but would give you my 2 cents anyway. Seriously, I think if you backed off the mileage and hard running for a bit and injected a few key workouts (or shorter races like 800s and 1500s) you would be only weeks away from PR 5k shape. Nothing like a solid PR to motivate the next block of training...
