Owen Park

Notes

Found a new park with trails this morning. There are more pockets of trails around Madison than I was expecting. Running here is turning out to be pretty interesting. The trails at Own Park were a mix of prairie and woodland (sounds kind of like Luther). The park is on a hill. At the top there is a very nice transition between woods, oak savanna, into prairie. Then at the bottom the prairie transitions back into oak savanna into more woods by the creek. Seeing this dynamic landscape (though probably not remnant) looked like how I would imagine prairie and oak savanna interacting before we altered the landscape. I look forward to going back there for many more runs. It also had some hills and challenging footing that I have not gotten enough of so far. Other interesting notes: the prairie had leadplant and chorus frogs calling!!! Two more great pluses!
