Wow. I finally broke 40 minutes and it comes at (what is hopefully) the end of enduring this hip injury. The hip didn't bother me at all during the race. My race plan worked perfectly, better than expected. I wanted to run conservatively on the uphills and push the downhills as hard as I could go. This worked out really well for the first mile, mostly downhill, which I ran in 5:35. That's the fastest mile I have run since high school, and it came during mile 1 of a 10K. I kept expecting to fall drastically off my pace later in the race because of going out too hard, but it didn't happen. What a way to PR. This was fun.
