Everyone keeps telling me that this was a good race and from an outside perspective I can see that. I probably looked comfortable and ran relatively fast. Internally this race was sad. I let myself check out of the race from before the gun. I was thinking about my back and next week, and didn't give the race it's due. When Vreeke moved forward I passively sat back and let it open up, without giving any urgent chase. It's hard to think about positives when the negatives are that overwhelming. People also told me that this is the new normal for me, which I already knew, but today was at the bottom of my window of ability.
