Notes

This is definitely my last race of the season.

32:58 sounds SO much better than 33:04. A PR is a PR and I am pretty happy with ending the season on a good positive note. The goal was to go out at 16:20 pace and work from there. The 1st mile was never really there. 5:18ish, I hit pretty close to splits for a 32:40, but was just off a bit, went through 5k at 16:31, which is still the fastest I've gone out in a 10 in. and I "technically" negative split it, but only by 3 seconds, so it was even split. With 9 laps to go, I felt like I wanted to throw up, and kept waiting for it to happen, and when it didn't I just kept going. At some point, ~6k in Rylaarsdam passed me, and his group wasn't going much faster than me, so I figured I'd tag along for a bit, I stayed on for maybe 600-800 meters. I don't think I really ever engaged in racing, but it was a good time trial to run fast and prove more of what I can do.

Kicked pretty hard. going into the last lap I needed a 72 to go under 33:00, and Diemer called out 32:07 with 300 to go and I TOOK OFF. I had a LOT of pop in my legs. My upper body was just pretty trashed, I felt constricted, tight, and like I wanted to throw up. I'm glad I gave that race a good go.

I've given Diemer a lot of confidence in me, and we talked a lot about it at breakfast the morning after the race. Man, that was a good wholesome breakfast. A good skillet, lots of wisdom from the coaches, good vibes all around, something I will remember for a while. Rylaarsdam and Caleb's dad were there and that just added to the morning!

This trip was definitely worth it, and I'm glad I had the opportunity. Excited to see what the rest of the boys (and girls) do today.
