Well, my goodness gracious....I did not feel bad after yesterday's hell run but was not looking forward to this. South winds, maybe 10-12 mph, so planned to run south first. Not nearly as bad as yesterday. Checked watch at 2 miles, 9:38 pace, felt pretty sure I had cut off part of the first loop or something but thought "well, today's goal is just to cover the miles and not feel bad." It was a pleasant day otherwise, just wanted to enjoy it. At 7 miles, 1:09, so 9:51 average. Did not check again until the end, so clearly I was able to pick up significantly. I ran comfortably up to 10 miles, did a 2X caffeine gel, then from 10 on went to 2/2 breathing and just rolled out, backing off on hills but not really working, just moving along. Had stopped once at about 8 to pee and take a layer off, again at 10 to gel and switch layers, and again at 12 to call Jim, total downtime (which I did subtract since I was standing and not making forward progress) was 9:30. Pleasant surprise.

Should I feel bad b/c I obviously did not work as hard as I thought I did yesterday? Maybe. Not sure. Still learning where the edge really is, I guess. Will settle for the fact that today would have been a good run no matter what AND I did enjoy it!
