Notes

This was to be 4 miles of warmup and 12 at MP. Not happening w/humidity at 80% or thereabouts and temps about 70. Ran loops on 4-mile loop w/Maple Crest. First loop@10:30 pace, 2nd@10:20 pace, 3rd@9:50 pace, 4th@8:55 pace. Average as shown above. Felt reasonably unhappy first loop, but better w/each successive one. Took shirt off after first loop, much cooler.

If I use the most generous of the heat/humidity adjustments and subtract 45 to 55 seconds, things come out at 9:09 to 8:59, basically the faster end of long run pace. If I use the less generous and subract 27 seconds, it comes out to 9:27, midrange for long run pace. If I take it at face value, it's the slower end of long run pace.

It was not what I planned, but I did not want to be trashed for Sunday. Did I wimp out? Guess we'll find out down the road. One bright spot--I had 8 ounces of juice and a coffee w/maybe 1.5 tsp of sugar beforehand and NO gel during run. I was hungry at the start of loop 3, which was 8 miles in, but it faded away by the end of that loop and I didn't feel hungry or bad during last loop--slow pace probably helped make that possible. Did drink 8 ounces of juice right away when I got home and took an electrolyte pill just to make sure.
