Notes
Lake Minnetonka Half. Awesome day for a run! Overcast and chilly at the start, I went out with 8:01/1:45 pace group and settled into a nice groove for the first mile and a half. At about that point, I felt really good at moderate effort so I decided to gamble and push the pace about 20 seconds faster than my original goal. Continued to feel like I could hang on for at least that pace, so I just kept on rollin'. Walked through the water stop at 8.5 miles like I planned to, but somehow I missed a sign or something, and there was only Powerade on the side of the course I choose. So i probably lost a few seconds stumbling over to the other side to get water to rinse a gel down and a volunteer spilled a cup of red Powerade on me as I went through looking for water. Resumed running and finished the course. Had a blast and set a new PR by a huge margin. This was only my 2nd HM after running the Polar Dash on a frigid New Year's Day. Had a great training cycle leading up to this race, and I thought it was interesting that it felt so much like it was more about the journey (the training as a whole) than the destination(the race). Maybe I'm weird, but that's how today felt. I guess it's a little depressing, until I set my sights on another race. Thanks everyone for caring, or at least pretending to, as well as all the advice and encouragement.
