Ran 3 miles on the trail with Copper this morning. Splits were 12:42, 12:48, and 11:22. Again Copper was trailing so badly for the first 1.25 miles that I was pulling on the leash. At one point in the first mile I stopped the watch for a minute thinking that if we walked slowly maybe he would go #2 and we could resume the run but all we did was walk. Then, as we nearing the half way point Copper picked up the pace and was either by my side or leading a bit. I do not understand what's going on. When we first got on the trail, he refusing to move at all for about 15 seconds. When I took him south he seemed willing enough. Perhaps he associates the northward trail with something he dislikes. I hope it's not running. :( The next time we run I'll try walking him for 10 minutes first to give him time to eliminate before running.
