A run I want to forget. Glad to have Cremer along for the company. Run started out fine... beautiful day, brought two GU's and water along. The first 9 were easy, though it was getting warm. Turn around at 9 and back to 11 felt fine... even picked it up a bit. Did GU's at 6 and 12 with H20. For some reason at 15 up long hill I started to slow, and feet got so heavy. By the time got to mile 16 feet felt like lead and calves started to cramp. What's going on? I have done this route several times ALOT faster than this. The last two miles were the worst running in my career! No speed, breathing hard. I guess this is the wall. Only can figure that my glucose was down and deficient in salt due to heat. Last time I did this run was great... was also 45 degrees (not in high 70's) and I also had done a GU every 5 miles. Had also brought some Powerade in one of the bottles. Really a discouraging run, but a learning experience that I need more fuel (no fat reserves on this body) and also need some electrolyte replace (more than GU's). Was very dizzy at end of run for about 20 minutes -- really thought I might pass out... ugh!. Did lots of water, banana and orange juice. Was the powerade that started to bring me back. And unbelieveable leg cramps. Well I missed planned pace of 8:34 (embarassed!) and hope that mother nature heals this OLD MAN"S body before next week's HM.

Addendum: Leg Cramps are subsiding. I wonder if biking 28 miles yesterday was contributing factor?
