Notes

A nice way to end a great running year. 16 miler for 2016 with last 8 at MP or better. Honestly got a little lost as you can tell by the map. Was only going to do 13-14 but what the heck. Cool day in NY. Snuck run in while visiting mom and dad for NY eve. Run felt great.

This bring the 2016 running year to an end and time to reflect. I did a lot of miles for this old body this year. Incorporated a lot of hills and tried to do core exercises regularly. I also took more recovery days than in the past. The old guy needs time to recoup. Between the job and family obligations its hard to get the miles in consistently. I also did a bunch more hiking this year which is a blast, and of course I can't forget the addition of lots of trail running that really strengthened my legs.

The year started with a 3 week layoff due to recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus in my right knee. Was worried that it might affect my running and initially it did with some acute achilles pain. Saw Jared for a few weeks and he got me back in shape. Kept up with his exercises throughout the season and it helped alot.

Completed 1726 miles this year with an average pace of 8:32 for the past 52 weeks.

Great year and coming off the surgery as well. 2017 May be your best running year the way your are going.

Well I don't have to say it, you know it: Chicago was the stunning accomplishment of this great (best of all) year. Amazing that you started out with torn meniscus surgery. But you battled back, apparently with good advice from Jared (chiropractor/trainer?) and your own smart, steadfast training. I'll have to see him, although I'm healthy, my last treatment being a cortisone injection in my knee before Boston (and marcaine just before the start). You continue to inspire me!
