Fun half marathon!! ~40 degrees, rainy and mild breeze. Cold waiting on the starting line. Loop course so no miles were fully into the wind. Choked down my first full GU 5 minutes before the race but didn't take another during the race. Took water/ power aid at the majority of the water stops but only drank ~1/2 the cup. Trial for the new marathon shoes and I like them. Only minor Achilles tightness during/ after the race, definitely been improving.
Ran with Paul for his first half of his marathon and it worked out really nicely. Really happy with how this race went, Paul and I were just clicking off constant miles and felt easier having someone to pace with. Felt great for the majority, a few tough miles near the end. Finished handing off to an enthusiastic Rob with a flawless car key exchange in the zone.
"Shan On!" currently 1/1 for relay wins, we'll see if our prize shows up in the mail....
An "unofficial PR" since they did not have a mat for the half marathon relay finish, which is unfortunate but I'll have another chance to run a half in 2 weeks @ New Bedford.
