Tough race. Going into the race I was obviously really excited to race. After these tough, not so good races I think it's good practice to find good things about the race and places where you can improve.

Currently, I'm trying to figure out what made ECAC's such a great race and this one so much worse. Looking at everyone's times and how they ran it was a tough race all around. Possibly it's only having 1 week to recover from the last 10k. I didn't feel terribly beaten down going into the race, mainly I just noticed my calves were a little tight after finishing up the 90 sec tempo. Possibly mentally I wasn't as tough as I was during ECAC's, where I was feeling almost invincible. Mentally tough is the wrong word, because I felt that my training had been so great up until that ECAC's race that it didn't matter too much what I was thinking since my training made it easy to run with all those girls.

So good things: Time was slowever, however I did place better than my seed time, meaning I was beating girls who were much faster than me. (Came 14 instead of 19). Can't help being a little bummed that 8th place was 16:20, however it's better to look as being a possibly goal if I get better/ smarter at racing.

Improvements: I'm really dissapointed how uneven all my lap splits were for the whole race. I want to get to a point were I can run 86's (or insert another time) consistently and worry less about what the people around me are running. I was getting very annoyed running in the pack since people would always be kicking your shoes or tripping in front of you. There's a pretty funny quote from Once a Runner that I was thinking about how if you are in a race and you think it's packed, just remember ancovies swin in packs with a much greater density.

No cool down! And onto 2 weeks off, Orgo night class and then hitting summer training hard!!

... I'll try to think of some more

Great thoughts. I have enjoyed your year of running and look forward to an even better one next year. AWESOME JOB!

Don't think too much about what made this 10k different than ECAC. I can explain it if you want, but it seems like you kind of have the idea down from what you wrote. Hopefully next year we won't need to run the 10k at ECAC!
