Notes
Snake River Half Marathon. Headwind all the way out, but I was able to tuck in behind Shawn B and got a "free ride" to the turn-around. This probably gained me a full minute, but I was working hard to stay with him and not get dropped. Last couple of miles I was feeling like I was pushing the limits and better not try to go any faster, since I was getting light-headed and legs were on the verge of going wobbly. I still managed to pass a few people in the last couple of miles plus passed a guy near the finish line in my final sprint (3:53 pace for last 40 feet). Drank 3 sips of water total during the race, was plenty. No Gatorade or Gu. Not needed.
Garmin said 13.02 miles.
Splits: 43:15 out, 42:53 back, approximately.
This race was hard. Sky was grey, cold headwind going out was about 10-12 mph steady, and I was working hard to stay right behind Burke all the way out. I owe him a beer!
