Notes

St. Paddy's 10K. Epic Fail.. Wasn't prepared for this, didn't taper, not feeling well the past two days and have run long and fast twice in the past week, and then too fast yesterday to blow the cobwebs out of my fuzzy-feeling head. Not a problem, since this wasn't a goal race, and I was planning on training through it and treating it as a training run. But this is a good example of leaving my best race out on the training runs this past week, intentional though it was. My legs were tired and slowed down after the first half, plus I was mentally tired and felt defeated before the race even started. After 5k I really wanted to stop running and just enjoy the walk. Instead I kept going but let my pace fade badly. I was in 3rd place over-all and didn't care, so I let two young ladies pass me at 5 miles and didn't put up any fight at all. I didn't care. I don't feel good about running a race when I don't care about doing well! It was intentional, but I don't feel good about it, just the same. Apparently my weight jumped more than 1 lb since yesterday, though I didn't eat anything to explain that.

Garmin had 6.17 miles for this race, 41:41. Official time was 41:38. Estimated 20:21 at 5K.
