Notes
St. Paddy's Day 10k, Clarkston, WA. 2nd place over-all. Goal today was to break 40:00 so mission accomplished. MUCH better racing than last year! This course passes underneath/through three large bridges that block the view of the sky, plus there are several tight zig-zag turns on the course and I assume this is why the Garmin comes up a bit short on this race. I started off very easy today, stayed with Bryan R for the first mile or so, instead of going out fast. I was running in 3rd place at the 5k/10k split, then caught young 20-ish 2nd place guy on the bridge just after the half-way point when he seemed to throttle back. I passed 5K at 20:02, but my watch was already a bit long at that point from the mile markers. Great racing today.
Clothes -Nike shorts, 1 long top, 1 short top and 1 singlet, plus hat. Was just right! I was too cold before the race - my hands froze.Temps were 43 at 9:30, probably 45 to 50 during the race?
