Notes

It's been a while so I figured I'd see where I was at with a MAFF test. I don't know why I did this knowing full well I'd be upset with the results. This is the worst I've ever done, which means I'm back to square one. At my best, I averaged 8:20 for the same HR. That means I lost 34 seconds per mile. That's pretty sucky, but I've had some time to think about it and I'm actually not that upset. As long as my knee is ok, I will only increase my fitness from here on out. I'll see where I am again in a few weeks. Most importantly, I will keep doing easy miles and increasing distance until R2C. If I feel good during the relay and afterwards, then I will start to slowly incorporate some quality workouts. I think that will really help with regaining my fitness. Just super slow miles alone isn't going to do it.

I think this is the right outlook. As long as that knee stays healthy I bet you get 2/3rds of that time back pretty quick.
