Corporate Challenge in Central Park with 15000 runners.
Well, this was really stupid. Once again, I talk a good talk about taking it easy and then I do this shit myself. I was running with my boss's boss. I told him I wasn't going to race it but then I started with him near the front anyway. I figured I would start a bit quicker to go with the flow when it was congested, but then slow down and let people pass me as it thinned out. But I didn't do that. I didn't race it either. I don't know what the hell this was. I guess a tempo effort of some sort. Bottom line is I shouldn't have done this.
I iced my knee when I got home and I hope that helped a bit. It was bothering me a little at night and it's definitely hurting this morning. It's certainly not as bad as when I did the 14 miles but still, this was stupid. I'm going to go back to the bike or elliptical today and I think I'm again going to stop running for a little while. When I do start again, it's going to be more like 2 miles at 9 minute pace.
Also I could tell in the run last night that I've lost some fitness which is no surprise from taking off the past few weeks and having done no speed in like 2 months. The 7:25 pace felt faster than it used to, especially since I ran a half marathon at a faster pace than that a couple months ago. Oh well.
