This run totally kicked my butt. I got all psyched to go running from reading on the forums and of course it's the hottest time in the day and of course I had some awful food for lunch. I think the experiment is over. Conclusion: bad food -> bad run. Seriously I have to stop eating crap before my runs. So since I've completely deviated from my plan I decided I would do a fartlek. I figured I'd run up the hills hard and then go down easy. Well this worked for the first half of the run and then I was just dead tired. I was originally going to do 7 miles but my legs were killing me which is a new thing for me. I guess I never got over this Sunday's 16 miler. Anyways I need to go into this slowly and not kill myself. I think changing this up to a 5 miler was a smart move because I could have done the extra 2 but it would have killed me for no good reason. Even this run as it was was super hard. I did find the energy for a bit of a kick at the last half mile. I'll chalk this one up to mental toughness. I plan to cross train tomorrow and then get back to a tempo on Thursday but hopefully in better weather and without eating a burger and fries from Wendy's.
