What a disaster. This was a complete bonk. I don't even really know why. I mean I guess I'm still sick from over a week ago, but I really don't think that's the whole story. The truth is I don't really know why sometimes I have good days and bad days. I tried GUs since I figured I'd need to use them for the race. Not sure if any of the calories were made available. I think I was pushing just too hard for the pace. I should have went on feel more I guess.

I could tell right from the start of the run, it was not going to go well, but I kept convincing myself I would feel better later on. That never happened. I started going a bit faster about 5 miles in but it just was too much effort. At around 9 miles in I was already struggling which is totally ridiculous since I wasn't even running that fast.

Needless to say, I don't have a lot of confidence for a new PR. Even if this was just a bad day, it's hard to imagine feeling so much better that I can run faster and then 10 miles farther. I can't even blame this on running too many miles since I cut back both of these weeks due to this cold. Oh well, what can you do. Will just have to enjoy the marathon and try to focus my best on running an even race rather than a PR.

A bonk on a long run is never fun, but your pace looked pretty good and it's awfully tough to push it if you're still sick. Sounds like we've both had setbacks in the past few weeks but you have put in a TON of miles over the last few months, coming off a terrific race performance, and I'm hoping we'll both feel ready for race day. Let's hope for a good 3 last weeks and strong taper! I'll even buy you ice cream again.
