Notes

Temp started at 40 and foggy with a cold headwind for first couple miles. Thankfully, the wind died down after that for almost the entire run. Started warming up after 10-11 miles. Temp at the end was almost 60.

So the plan was to do a 20 mile progression run - starting at 9:45 and picking up the pace by 0:15/mile every 5 miles. Except for the second 5 miles - which were about 10 sec/mile too fast, I was very close to my pace targets.

To add a little more Cowtown specific training - I did this one similar to a recent long run I did. I hit 19 hills along the course - 1 slight incline that climbs for 1.5 miles, 3 1/2 miler hills, 6 1/4 mile hills and the rest were about 1/8 of a mile. These made it very tough to maintain the pace targets that I had set out - but I did it. Adding in the additional hills also pushed the mileage up past 22. Not something I would have planned on at the beginning - but at mile 15 or so - it made sense. Who knew. This run was a big confidence builder - both in terms of the distance and maintaining the pace over all the hills.

Nutrition: I had a 20oz gatorade and coffee before leaving. 2x20oz bottles of water, 1 package of pop-tarts, 3 S! Caps, and another 20oz bottle of gatorade.

My left shoe felt a little loose midway through the run - I should have checked it. I got home to a bloody sock and a popped blister. Ah well. First time for everything.
