Raced the 3k at Bowdoin. I knew there was atleast 1 bowdoin guy and 1 middlebury guy who already ran sub 9 this season. Going into the race my primary goal was to win with a sub 8:50 and get in a good first race. Crank was the first off the line and I tucked in to second. The first 400 was slower than I wanted, around 71/2. I took the lead and dropped a 35. We got through the mile in 4:48 and then the bowdoin kid took over. I was tucked in nicely from here on. We go through 2k in 6flat and then the pace picks up. Going into the last 400, two other kids passed me. I made a big move to take the lead on the back stretch of the penultimate lap to gap the field. I thought I had the win, running hard into the bell lap. I needed a 30 to run 8:50. On the back stretch the bowdoin kid flies by me and I can't cover. He runs 8:49 while I finish second in 8:51. Third place was 8:54. Solid effort, I'm happy with the result even though I just barely missed my goals
