38th Annual Wine Cellar 10K (Dunbar, WV)
1st Place
32:50/5:17avg
Splits: 10:26, 5:19, 5:27, 5:19, 6:15(5:13pace)
I was told to keep this race to tempo pace only which was a good thing as I was feeling a little worn down the last few days and then on the warm up I seemed to be lacking much bounce so I knew even tempo pace (5:15-20) wouldn't be easy. Throw in the 71degree morning and at times gusty winds and today was somewhat of a challenge for me to hit tempo effort. I ran about the same effort throughout but did lose some focus on mile 4 for some reason, I made sure to pick it back up to finish on a strong note and did work the last half mile hard to make sure the time would be under 33minutes. All and all another good workout, it just didn't feel as smooth as my past workouts but another 100+mile week and surprisingly warm morning didn't help. Training is going well so I just need to keep at it hard for another couple weeks before the taper makes running faster then MP feel smooth again!
Huge group of TTC and friends ran this classic race. This race is like Poca River and CDR for me, I will try to run those 3 races every single year that I'm living in Charleston and capable of still running. Three true classics!
