1st Place

Local race with some tradition that also offered a small cash prize so I had planned to do this since moving here. I was worn out all morning from the long travel and coaching combined with bad eating habits on the road. I really had approached this just like a workout and it sort of got me today. Without taking the extra precautions to be "race" ready sort of turned this into a tough one. I never felt horrible running but leg wise was really dead and body wise was really hot. I ran within a slower tempo range the first 4-miles over some rolling hills but a solid climb to start the 5th mile really did me in overall and I never felt good again during the last 2-miles. All and all it is a decent looking workout on paper but the feel was far from a decent workout the more I look back on it.

I'm sort of at the point in my life where entering races to use them just as a workout isn't always a good idea. I might need to approach races used as workouts as "races" and then hopefully it's a easier feeling workout than like today which was far from easy feeling. Course is pretty tough and it was warm in my opinion plus wind was strong in spots--so there was a lot working against me!

I still won and picked up the cash. 2nd Place was a couple minutes back and I didn't grab his name but he said he has ran in the 33's. He went out with me the first mile then seemed to fall off quickly.
