Glad to support WVs oldest road race and get in my last workout of substance before the marathon next weekend. Very sticky(thick air), and far less then ideal running conditions but with my plan to use it as a workout things still felt pretty much like I had hoped. I was hoping to cut down a little bit slower then I did but I think I still kept things relaxed enough for 1 week out from 26.2! Perfect setup for a workout, I love the up and downs of the course and there is a solid amount of them! (Last year I ran 50:12 in what I would call a in between hard tempo to close to race effort...much harder effort then today of course)
This race is the best $15 value you can find for a road race. Long Sleeve Tech Brooks shirts, the famous Poca River 15K towels to all age group placers and winners, chance for gift certs to the running shop, iplayoutside coverage/pictures, bonus backpacks to the overall winners and best yet you get to run on a great rolling hilly country road with friends! Hopefully the word will one day get out and this 120-150 person race will grow to over 250! Kelly and TTC do a GREAT JOB with it!
